Well, this is it, today we booked our flights!!!!
After many sleepless nights and hours trawling the internet we've finally found fares we can live with and fly out on Qantas on 9 September. We will stay in France until 14 December (with a few days in the UK to get around the 90 day stay limit) and spend 4 days in Singapore before arriving home on 19 December just in time for a (hopefully) warm rather than white christmas!!!
So theres no turning back, fares are non refundable - now the mad saving starts to make sure we can afford to stay there all this time!
So it looks like the story will be Paris, Bordeaux, Montpelier, Provence and the South, LegoLand, Italy, Stuttgart/Alsace, the Somme, UK, Paris.
Will have a breather now then start the handwork of finding places to sleep after we leave Bordeaux. Will keep you posted!

Found and booked our first Gite!!
Well its starting to feel real now, we have found and booked our first gite. A free standing house in a little village just out of St Emillion in the Bordaeux region, with views to the Dordogne river. It has a garden, a petanque court and vineyards all around.
We had a lot of help from my wonderful French friend Sandrine, it turns out that the house is near where she lived in France and the owner of the house knows her family - helps to have connections!! She kindly rang him and did all the talking for me and got us a great deal so it will be home for a month!! If you want to check it out here is the link http://www.abritel.fr/location-vacances/p625445 the best bit is that Sandrine Jeremy and Noah will be in the area visiting family for the whole month we are there so we will have local friends (and help with translating and finding the best bakeries and wineries!!).
Now I just have the other 2 months to fill in!!
